ABOUT THIS GALLERY
The Lab Installation was intended as a large survey of the entire project as it existed up to that point in time.  There were examples from each of the four sections going back to the individual canvases up to and including the most current canvases in the Mural Section.  It was the first time that the individual canvases from Section I were shown. The individual canvases of Section I were grouped chronologically beginning on the east wall by the entrance from the street — beginning with the 1900's, the 1920's, and ending with the 1930's.  Canvases from sections II, III, and IV followed down the long corridor of the space and were followed by framed canvases from the small series "Herr H.: Leben und Zeit." (See "DIE PLAGE" CHRONOLOGY: PART V for complete view of this small, separate series.)   The portion of the Mural Section presented here begins at the back of the long corridor, reading from left to right, moving from the back of the space, and ending near the space's entrance. The small, side gallery, running along the south wall of the space contained both more framed canvases from "Herr H." and some of the enlarged, individual prints that had been shown in the Newport Installation. (See floor plan in image box of entire space.)

I felt the work was well represented by this installation, which is to say that it was, in my opinion, a visual and 'artistic' success. Its success, however, ended there for me. Against my better judgment, I had become involved, both physically and financially, in essentially renovating the entire space to facilitate the hanging of my work. I recommend this sort of involvement to only those artists who are to squeamish to buy a gun and shoot themselves in the foot, an option far quicker, cheaper, and in the end, more gratifying.  I was fortunate to be helped in the renovation project by of Christina Ankofska and my old house painting partner from La Jolla, Dave Riney, both of whom helped me get some enjoyment out of what turned out to be one of the most self-destructive, albeit instructive career moves in my entire life.  Christina Ankofska shot all the photos with me in them. I shot all the installation views.
